The tour will be 10 a.m. 4 p.m. June 14, said vice president Mike Whelan. This tour is centered on seven homes in the north Normal Historic Neighborhood, starting just north of Willow Street on Normal Avenue.

Free parking is available at the First United Methodist Church parking lot at 211 N. School St. Homes in the area feature various architectural styles, including a Spanish Colonial Revival home, a home or dered from the Sears catalog in 1916, and one of the first homes built in that neighborhood, circa 1869. Ticket holders must present their tickets to pick up house tour booklets at the tent in the church parking lot. A portable restroom will be located there and cold bottles of water will be available for purchase.

Tickets are limited and can be purchased in advance for $15 at the following locations: The Garlic Press; David Davis Mansion; both Schnucks locations; AB Hatchery; Garden Shop; Growing Grounds; and The Old House Society Salvage Warehouse, 214 E. Douglas Bloomington. Whelan noted that because the number of tickets is limited and, based on previous years, it is not anticipated there will be any tickets available on the tour day. Matt Mitchell was a state trooper in 2007 when his cruiser crossed the median on Interstate 64 east of St. Louis and slammed into oncoming traffic, killing Collinsville sisters Jessica Uhl, 18, and Kelli Uhl, 13. Mitchell had been driving more than 120 mph at the time and using his cellphone and computer. He pleaded guilty to reckless homicide and received probation. latest request to restore his driving privileges was rejected in February and he was set to have a fifth hearing on the request last week before it was canceled by his lawyer.

His attorney, J. Israel Slone, said hearing officers have recommended that Mitchell get his license returned, but the Illinois Secretary of Office scuttled such moves. Secretary of State spokesman Dave Druker told the Belleville News Democrat that it was Jesse White himself who blocked restoration requests. does not feel at this time that the case has been made as to why Mr. Mitchell should get his license Druker said.
