18. i -A i ft lifvffil Mel-Sib students publish articles Theresa Lange, a student at Melvin Sibley High School, and Karen Kearney, a junior high student at Melvin Sibley, had articles published in the February issue of Illinois History magazine. The issue dealt with Abraham Lincoln. Lange's deals with Lincoln's service in the Black Hawk War. Also serving were Lincoln's relatives John D.

Johnst)ff-a stepbrother, and John Hanks, a cousin. The title of her article is "Lincoln and Relatives in the Black Hawk War." Kearney's article, "Guests at Ford Theatre" is about the guests that attended the presentaiton of "Our American Cousin" at the Ford Theatre on April 14, 1865, the night President Lincoln was shot. Illinois History magazine is published monthly during the school year by the Illinois State Historical Library. made a rally jn the stages of the game, coming from a 17-point deficit in the third period, but it fell short. Coach Jack Cowgill's team Latest snow fowls up GCHS sports events Two Gibson City High School athletic events were postponed Tuesday night because of Monday night's snow that closed the schools Tuesday. One is cancelled and another is tentative. The Greyhound wrestling match at Clifton Central has been cancelled because of a Central conflict and a lack, of time before the district tournaments open, this Friday.

Coach Gene Everett's team thus ended the regular schedule with a 13-7 record in dual competition. The Greyhound varsity' and sophomore basketball games at Tolono Unity may be played, with a big if the date is Saturday, Feb. 20, unless that date is necessary for conference makeup games. Unity, in the Okaw Valley Conference, and Gibson City, in the Wauseca, may need the day. If so the event will be cancelled because regional tourneys will be played the following week.

The 7th graders lost their opener, 9-5, at Paxton Tuesday night, and two days later beat Forrest at home, 38-10. The 8th grade girls lost both games, 41-20 to Paxton and 47-12 to Forrest. In the 7th grade team's first game Carrie Long scored two points and led in rebounds, as Angie Sallee scored the other three points. -Starters were Long at center, Sallee at forward, Denise Schantz and Beth Glascock at guards, and Wendy Holsten at point guard.

Fern Supawanich also played. Long had 22 points and nine Services, Inc. Gibson City. III. This weekend the Grey-hounds travel to Clifton Central Friday night, and play Paxton here Saturday.

Two make-up games will be played next week at Georgetown Tuesday night and Danville Schlarman here on Wednesday. The lasf game on the schedule is Friday, Feb. 19, again with Schlarman but this time in Danville. The game could determine the Wauseca championship. If possible, a non-league game at Unity victim Tuesday night will be played Saturday, Feb.

Flrm Promotes Rich Rudolph Richard Rudolph has been promoted to president with Corroon Black of Illinois, insurance brokerage firm Joased in Chicago. Rich, the son of Mr. and Mrs.

Gerald Rudolph of Gibson City, graduated in 1964 from Gibson City High School, and from the University of Illinois in 1969 with a degree in accounting. Following graduation he spent three years in research with Professors R. I. Rich and his wife Bunney and two sons live in Blooming-dale, 111. Last November he was appointed a member of the Bloomingdale Finance Commission. He also serves the insurance industry by teaching two courses in the Insurance School of Chicago. Having completed seven parts of the CPCy, he will receive that designation this spring.
