D. Weaver of La Salle, and GIVE CLUB CREDIT. Commercial Organization Secures Delay for Further Investigation of Smoke Ordinance. A number of business men and manufacturers of the city were yesterday congratulating the offlcera of the Commercial Club for securing the delay of the city council on the passage of the proposed drastic smoke ordinance. Those who had studied its proposed provisions were sure that it would work a hardship on many of the manufacturing enterprises of the city and tend to give the competing cities against Bloomlngton, such as Decatur, Springfield and Peoria, a decided ad-vtntage in industrial matters.

It Is agreed that the manufacturing Interests of the city are few enough at the best, and anything; which would tend to drive industrial enterprise of this city to other locations would be a menace to the prosperity of Bloomlngton. Again, when It was decided that a smoke ordinance should affect alike residences as well as factories, then there would be a general complaint against too draatlo provisions. After the plea of the Commercial Club officers for delay until further facta could be secured, was heeded by the council, it Is now thought that some solution can be arrived at which will tend to remove the drastlo objections to the ordinance and at the same time improve smoke conditions.
