Father Raney does not contemplate any changes in his regular lineup for his team came through famously in its last start against Normal to virtually clinch the Corn Belt title. This means that Jack Norton, who played a hangup game against Normal will be the snapperback with George Reed and Capt.

Ralph Cunningham at guard with Bud Gildner and Ralph Spencer operating at tackle. The ends will be Dick Lenahan and Jim Jeffers, the two bas keteers while the starting back field will probably consist of Jerome Kniery at quarter, Heinz, Kerr or Donovan, the halfbacks with Bill Gildner at full. Another stiff drill is scheduled today and then the coaches will let up Friday with a light drill calculated place the men in just the proper mood for a gruelling battle Saturday. The Southeastern Missouri Teachers college, foe of the Birds Saturday, have met only one defeat this season and the Birds count this just as tough a game as the Wesleyan game that follows Nov. 20. Frank Olivieri and Gene Speck, the two De Kalb boys, are now right up in the front ranks in competition for starting berths in the backneld and either or both mav get the nod at game time Saturday.

CHICAGO. UP) It was bound to happen sooner or later, and last weekend it The Washington Redskins took a setback in their passing game and the Green Bay Packers suffered likewise in their ground attack. But the Chicago Bears had another field day and for the first time this season emerged supreme as pro football's top offensive team. Nudged out in one statistic or another by the Packers or Redskins all fall, the Bears now are No. 1 in total offense, rushing and passing, with 384.1 yards a game, first in rushing with 167 yards a game, and ioremost in passing with 217.1 yards each contest.

Green Bay Is Second. Thus for the fourth time since the National Football league's team figures were first compiled in 1932, the Bears are on the way to total domination of the circuit in yardage gained. They did it before in 1932, 1939 and 1941. Last year they were first in total offense and yards rushing but were nosed out by Green Bay in aerials. Behind these 1943 Bears for midable ability to roll up yards and smother opponents, the Pack ers took two back seats and Wash ington one.

Green Bay is the runnerup in total offense with 335.4 yards and in rushing with 158.3 yards, and the Redskins tag along back of the Bears with 198.4 yards a game by passing. Washington, Eastern Top. But the reason the championship Washington team is holding the whip hand in the eastern division is its excellent defense. The Redskins are first in total defense and passing defense, limiting foes to 182 yards a game by all methods and to 104.6 yards a contest via aerials. And their rushing de fense mark of 77.8 yards for the opposition is second only to Phil- fitts amazing 64 yard average.

Last Sunday Washington was snarled by Phil-Pitt's general all around good defense and bagged only 62 yards rushing and 147 yards passing. Meanwhile Green Bay was held by the Bears to 122 yards rushing and 112 passing, while the Bears themselves, al though hampered by a muddy neid, collected 186 more yards on the ground and 190 on forwards and laterals. Washington still led in percent of passes completed with a .523 mark and in average distance of punts with 42.8 yards. 117 Harness Horses Sold At Auction HARRISBURG. PA.

UP) Ohio State's Buckeyes polished up their passing offense Wednesday in preparation for the game with Illinois Saturday. Coach Paul Brown had Paul Davis, Dean Sensanbaugher, Bob by McQuade, Ernie Parks and Bob Hecker throwing aerials.

PREP CHATTER MADISON, WIS. The Univer sity of Wisconsin's 1943-44 basket ball schedule, containing 19 games, 10 of them on the home floor in the Wisconsin fieldhouse here, was announced Monday by Harold E. (Bud) Foster, Badger basketball coach. The schedule includes a dozen games with Western conference opponents as well as contests with Marquette and Notre Dame and with three service teams, Camp Grant, Great Lakes, and the De- Pauw navy flight school, which opens the season in a game here Nov. 29.

Foster said that there is a pos sibility of another game away from home being added to the schedule later to make an even 20 games. Following is the Badgers sched ule as announced by Foster: Nov. 29 Navy Flight Preparatory school at Madison. Dec. 4 Marquette at Madison.

The guests will be favored but the Dwight eleven believes it has a good chance to win and this is expected to bring out a large Armistice day crowd if the weather is at all good.

Dwight is at full war strength while reports from Pontiac indi cate that Pontiac will present its usual lineup except that John Mc- Fadden will start at center in place of Paul Lamb. The game means much to both squads for Pontiac has a chance to finish at least second if it wins, and might even take first place in the Corn Belt conference if high should bump off Trinity unexpectedly while a victory for the Trojans means a successful season. For any year a Dwight team beats its neighboring rivals, it can be written in the books as a successful year. On comparative scores, at least, the game should be close, for Dwight and Normal played a scoreless tie while Normal barely squeezed out a last minute deci sion over the Indians. Downey Lone VetatOdell ODELL.

(PNS) With Downey the sole survivor of last year's strong team, St. Paul's strength on the hardwood this winter is still a question mark. St. Paul is still faced with the problem of not having a gym but has worked out of doors whenever the weather would permit. Since this year's team will be composed all entirely of juniors, it should be a big help in building for the future.

The grade school gym at Pon tiac will be available once a week. As a year ago, St. Paul will be strictly a road club. Fifteen games have been booked on foreign courts: Nov. 23 Strawn at Strawn.

LEROY. The man who hasn't heard about the Empire Township-Moore game here Armistice day is like the fellow who didn't know there was a war going on. This is always the big game of the year in Le Roy and regardless of the result of the first game, is almost certain to be a hard fought, bone tingling ball game because the underdog more often than not rises to the occasion and wins. However this year, every member of this LeRoy team is determined that it's going to a clean sweep of the series and now that it is certain that Darrell Scott, the king pin of the Le Roy attack will be in the lineup, Empire followers see a clean sweep and a victorious curtain drawn on the 1943 campaign. Against VVatseka, he kicked out of bounds five times, between his 20 and 50 yard line, inside of Watseka's 12 yard stripe and twice cut the "coffin corner" inside of the two yard trip. His punting In the Milford game was outstanding and he got one boot of 78 yards in this game, which went out of bounds on the one yard line. Can Run, Too.

Carson also can run. He intercepted a pass and raced 45 yards for the only touchdown in the Rantoul game. He intercepted a pass in the Fairbury game and ran it back 78 yards for a touch down. His punting unquestion ably was largely responsible for holding Fairbury's powerful Tar tars to a 19-13 margin. His passing in the LeRoy and Paxton games helped annex those two contests.

It is Carson's valedictory and also is the final appearance for Capt. Bob Bill Phillips, Cleschi, Drummer quarterback and Goodell. It will be a big day in old Gibson only if the Greyhounds can win.
