This shattered the old meet mark of 4:03.9 set by Ray ArringtoB of Wisconsin in 1967. Bjorklund became a double points under a new scoring system introduced this meet on the basis of 10-8-6-4-2-1 for six places.

Wisconsin, which had set the winning record of 80 points last season under the old scoring system, wound up Saturday with 91 points. Michigan State was third with 68, and Illinois took fourth with 66. The victorious Hoosier squad hauled Coach Sam Bell to the steeplechase water jump and doused him in It in a victory celebration. Congratulations Class 100-yard dash winner Dave Norris of Towanda receives congratulations from second place finisher Rod Keller of Octavia. Norris' time was 13.6 seconds in Saturday's Junior Olympics at Fred Carlton Field.

Octavia was second with 15 paints. Bloomington's large point total was keyed by Class A individual winner John Lukens who took top honors in the high jump and baseball throw and placed second in the 100-yard dash. Doug Hanson of Holy Trinity Grade School was the second highest point winner with a total of 15 points in Class A. He won the 50-yard dash, took second in the baseball throw, and placed fourth in the long jump. Chris Riddle pushed Oakdale into the Class title by scoring 16 of Oakdale's 27tt points.

Riddle won the 50-yard dash, the baseball throw and was in a three-way tie for fifth in the high jump to take individual Class honors.
