Dee, 90, of R.R. 1, Bloomington, lifelong McLean County farmer, died at 5:25 yesterday (April 29, 1991) at St member of her family, died at 12:15 p.m. Sunday (April 28, 1991) at Fairview Haven Nursing Home, Fairbury. She was born Aug. 21, 1904, in Pleasant Ridge Township, a daughter of John and Lena Meenen Metz.

She married Hugh Wallace July 9, 1931, in Peoria. He died Oct 8, 1968. Surviving are two daughters, Royalene Davis and Nancy Honeg-ger, both of Forrest; nine grand-children; and 14 greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, five brothers and six sisters. Mrs.

Wallace was a member of the Forrest Apostolic Christian Church. Memorials may be made to Fairview Haven Nursing Home, Fairbury. stin, four sisters, Erma Drabing, Atlanta; Margie Rich, Waynesville; and Betty Fulmer and Norma McCray, both of Lincoln; two brothers, Charles, Las Vegas, and Lynn, Glendale, and one stepgrandson. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. An Army veteran of the Korean War, Mr.

Karrick was a heavy equipment operator. Doris E. Koester NEW HOLLAND Doris Eileen Koester, 74, Nokomis, formerly of New Holland, died at 8:05 a.m. yesterday (April 29, 1991) at her residence. Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m.

Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, Nokomis, the Rev. Loren Abney officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Richmond Grove Cemetery, New Holland. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m.

today at Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home, Nokomis. Mrs. Koester was born Aug. 5, 1916, at New Holland, a daughter of Vinton and Ida Lemme Wendel. She married Henry W.

Koester on March 17, 1951, at New Holland. He died Jan. 1, 1973. Survivors include a sister, Beulah Conklen, Mason City. A brother preceded her in death.

Mrs. Koester belonged to the Garden Club, the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, all in Nokomis. Memorials may be made to her church. Eileen D. Shubert SAUNEMIN Eileen D.

Shubert, 69, rural Saunemin, died at 7:20 a.m. yesterday (April 29, 1991) at Saint James Hospital, Pontiac. Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pontiac Bible Church, the Rev. Keith Mosebrook officiating.

Burial will be in Sunny Slope Cemetery, Saunemin. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Raleigh J. Harris Funeral Home, Pontiac, and for one hour before the service Wednesday at the church. Mrs.

Shubert was born March 1, 1922, in Odell, a daughter of C. Milton and Grade Groves Lewis. She married Anton J. Shubert on Sept 17, 1944, in Pontiac. He survives.

Other survivors include five sons, Keith, San Bernardino, Gerald and Daniel, both of Pontiac; Paul, Annapolis, and Timothy, Jamestown, N.Y.; one daughter, Karen Beaty, Lindale, Texas; seven sisters, Inez Clausen and Velma Moritz, both of Mesa, Vera Ely, Dwight; Alberta Flint, Pontiac; Imogene Highland, Cornell; Fern Mattox, Knoxville, Iowa; and Gladys Limkemann, Orlando, seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death. Mrs. Shubert was educated in Odell schools. She was an active member of Pontiac Bible Church.

Memorials may be made to her church or Pontiac Christian School. William Steidinger FORREST William Eugene "Gene" Steidinger, 63, of Forrest died at 7:02 a.m. yesterday (April 29, 1991) at the Danville Veterans Administration Medical Center. He was taken to Culkin-Diggle Funeral Home, Forrest Earl J. Thompson PAXTON Earl J.

Thompson, 71, of Danville, formerly of rural Paxton, died at 1:59 a.m. yesterday (April 29, 1991) at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Danville. He had been in ill health for five weeks. Fairbury High School. He lived and farmed in rural Colfax from 1944-47 and than moved to a farm in rural Fairbury, where he farmed until retirement in 1986.

After graduation from high school, he turned down a contract to play baseball for the Chicago White Sox. He had decided to farm for his dad and his neighbors. He was a 4-H leader for the Fairbury Junior Fanners for 10 years and had the outstanding club of Livingston County for many years. Mr. Freed played the role of Santa Claus for the Fairbury Chamber of Commerce and other area organizations.

He also received the National 4-H Alumni Award; the State Farmer Degree in Future Farmers of America; and Junior Chamber Outstanding Farmer's Award, all in 1957. Mr. Freed was president of Fairbury Lions Club for two years and was a current member. He was president of Avoca Betterment Club and was active in the Livingston County Rural Youth and Country Couples. He served as junior superintendent of the Fairbury Fair for many years and has been very active in raising purebred sheep and cattle, producing many state fair and Chicago international winners.

Mr. Freed received his 25-year pin with the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Fairbury Chapter. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Fairbury, serving on the church council, and was also high school class Sunday school teacher and church usher. He was a member of Livingston County Farm Bureau. Memorials may be made to his church or Livingston County chapter of the Diabetes Association.

Zelma H. Hilligoss McLEAN Zelma H. Hilligoss, 99, a 71-year resident of McLean, died at 12:30 a.m. yesterday (April 29, 1991) at McLean County Nursing Home, Normal. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m.

Wednesday at McLean Cemetery, the Rev. Alice Shirley officiating. There will be no visitation. McReynolds-Beck Funeral Home, McLean, had charge of arrangements. She was born March 2, 1892, in Mansfield, a daughter of Robert and Isabelle Ollery McKee.

She married William S. Hilligoss in April of 1911 in Decatur. He died in 1971. Surviving are one daughter, Eileen Leach, 602 S. Mercer Bloomington; one granddaughter; three great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters. Memorials may be made to McLean Cemetery Association. Ex-area resident dies at age 102 WENONA Lettie Lyndgren Johnson, 102, of Bertrand, formerly of Wenona and Varna, died April 23 at Phelps Memorial Health Center, Holdrege, Neb. Her funeral was Friday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Bertrand, the Rev. Orville Olson officiating.

Sandstrom Funeral Home, Bertrand, had charge of arrangements. She was born Sept 12, 1888, in Varna, a daughter of August and Emma Krone Lyndgren. She mar ried Aaron Johnson Dec. 24, 1916, in Wenona. He died Aug.

6, 1964. Surviving are two sons, Francis, Washington, and Wayne, Omaha, three daughters, Ardith Fox, Oxford, Florence Holthus, Cincinnati, Ohio; and Alyce Bolm, Kingsburg, one sister, Blanche Lyndgren, Wenona; 15 grandchildren; and 21 greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, three brothers and four sisters. William J. Karrick ATLANTA The graveside service of William J.

Karrick, 58, of Denham Springs, formerly of Atlanta, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Roaches Chapel Cemetery, rural McLean. Tony Billingsley of the Christian Church in McLean will officiate. There will be no visitation. Qui-ram Funeral Home, Atlanta, had charge of arrangements.

Mr. Karrick died at 2 p.m. Saturday (April 27, 1991) at his residence. Death was attributed to natural causes. He was born Aug.

10, 1932, In Atlanta, a son of Orville and Iona Lang Karrick. He married Leta McRoberts April 29, 1966, in Jefferson City, Mo. She survives. Also surviving are one stepdaughter, Janet Bernardino, Tu- STREATOR Marilyn B. Cox, 54, Streator, died at 12:15 a.m.

Sunday (April 28, 1991) at her residence after a brief illness. Her funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St Stephen's Church, Streator, the Rev. Peter Bolerasky officiating. Burial will be in St Stephen's Cemetery, Streator.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Solon Funeral Home, Streator, with the rosary at 7 p.m. Mrs. Cox was born March 21, 1937, in Streator, a daughter of Andrew and Mary Negray De-minsky. She married William W.

Cox. He survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Kimberly Muntz, Dudley, N.C.; Laurie Cox, Ottawa; and Lisa Harris, Goldsboro, N.C.; two sons, Scott Streator, and Michael, Goshen, two brothers, Ter-rence Deminsky, Streator, and David Deminsky, Tucson, five grandchildren; and one step-grandson. Her parents preceded her in death. Mrs.

Cox, a lifelong Streator resident was last employed by St Mary's Hospital, Streator. She was a member of St Stephen's Church. Daryl Crabtree CLINTON Daryl Crabtree, 77, Homewood, formerly of Clinton, a retired railroad engineer, died Sunday (April 28, 1991) at South Suburban Hospital, Hazel Crest His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Jerome Zimny Funeral Home, 168th and Dixie Highway, Hazel Crest the Rev. Lawrence McClellan officiating.

Burial will be in Skyline Memorial Park Cemetery, Monee. Mr. Crabtree was born Aug. 16, 1913, in Bedford, Iowa, a son of Ernest and Lulu Melvin Crabtree. He married Lila Mitchell.

She survives. Other survivors include two sons, David, Clinton, and Bruce, East Hazel Crest; one brother, Beryl, Tinley Park; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Mr. Crabtree was a retired locomotive engineer for Illinois Central Railroad. He was a member of St Paul Community Church, Homewood; Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers Division 10; American Association of Retired Persons; Neighbor Lodge 1169, AF AM; and Illinois Agricultural Association and Farm Bureau.

Drummond infant MORTON Ashley Diane Drummond, infant daughter of Gregory K. and Carol F. Potter Drummond of Morton, died at 2:45 a.m. Sunday (April 28, 1991) at Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria, shortly after her birth. A private graveside service will be at 2 p.m.

today at Roberts Cemetery, Morton, the Rev. Tom McMurtry officiating. There will be no visitation. Ludwig-Rohrschneider Mortuary, Morton, has charge of arrangements. Also surviving are her paternal grandparents, Don and Wanda Drummond, Morton; maternal grandparents, Charles and Alma Potter, Paulding, Ohio; paternal great-grandmother, Hazel Waggoner, Bridgeport; and maternal great-grandparents, Doval and Faye Lowry, Indianola, Okla.

Joseph Medical Center, filoomington. He was born Dec. 23, 1922, in Weston, a son of Darwin Ralph and Viola Pfeffinger Freed. He married pelma L. Petersen on April 9, 1944, in Colfax.

She survives. Other survivors Include two sons, Ronald B. and Randall both of Pairbury; two daughters, Brenda XJeiser, Mount Zion, and Denise J. Ludwig, R.R. 3, Bloomington; one lister, Joyce Cox, Stillwater, land 11 grandchildren.

One brother preceded him in 'death. PLA Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, after a brief illness. His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington, and at 11 a.m. at St Patrick of Merna Church, the Rev.

R. Michael Schaab James Dee officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Normal. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home, where a prayer service will be at 7 p.m.

Mr. Dee was born Nov. 17, 1900, at Merna, a son of Michael and Mary Killian Dee. He married Pearl M. Hines Jan.

20, 1926, in Bloomington. She survives. Other survivors include one son, James R.R. 1, Bloomington; one daughter, Rosemary King, R.R. 9, Normal; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Four brothers preceded him in death. Mr. Dee, who graduated from St Mary's High School, Bloomington, had farmed east of Bloomington and in the Merna area. He was a member of Sf. Patrick of Merna Church, Bloomington Knights of Columbus Council 574 and the McLean County Farm Bureau.

Memorials may be made to his church or the American Cancer Society. Lee Roy Ryburn Lee Roy Ryburn, 56, of 335 E. Lincoln St, Bloomington, a carpenter, died at 11:08 p.m. Sunday (April 28, 1991) at St Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington. His graveside service will be at 1 p.m.

Thursday at Randolph Township Memorial Cemetery, Hey-! worth, the Rev. Michael Ryburn, his son, officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Kibler-Smith Memorial Home, Bloomington. Mr.

Ryburn was born Aug. 28, 1934, at Bloomington, a son of Nelson Odell and Margaret Peel Ryburn. Survivors include his mother, 335 E. Lincoln St, Bloomington; four sons, Thomas V. and Lee Ryburn both of Bloomington; Stanley Ryburn, 1403 W.

Chestnut St, Bloomington; and the Rev. Ryburn, Chattanooga, two brothers, Donald Ryburn, 337 E. Baker St, Bloomington, and Robert Ryburn, rural Ellsworth; two sisters, Alice Belcher, 307 S. Morris Bloomington, and Sharon Stewart, 410 Avenue Hilltop Mobile Homes, Bloomington; and eight grandchildren. His father, one brother and one grandson preceded him in death.

Mr. Ryburn was a carpenter, working in construction out of Local 63 of the carpenters' union. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the Louis E. Davis American Legion Post and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Memorials may be made to a trust fund for Margaret Ryburn, in care of Marine Bank, Bloomington.

MILITARY Promoted to major Army Capt Martin J. Setter, formerly of Bloomington, recently was notified he will be promoted to the rank of major and will be assigned to Fort Sam Houston in Texas. Setter, 36, a podiatrist, will enroll in an advanced training course and upon completion of it will be assigned for one year to a base in Seoul, South Korea, where he will be chief of podiatry. Setter, who joined the military in 1987, held that same post at Fort Bliss inl El Paso, Texas, where he received an accreditation for exemplary service. Before that, he completed a podiatric residency program at Fort Orr, Calif.

Before entering the military, Setter lived in Bloomington in 1986-87 during a one-year residency program at Midstate Podiatry Associates. HEALTH Bradley childbirth class METAMORA A free class about the Bradley Method of childbirth will be offered at 7 p.m. May 6 at the home of Jean Campen, 1202 Arthur Lane, Metamora. The class is the first of a 10-part series to be taught by a certified childbirth educator with the American Academy of Husband-Coached Childbirth. To register, Ms.

Campen. l. fc -n iimniii I Bloomington-Normal Lulia Boitnott The funeral of Lulia Mae Boitnott, 87, formerly of 812 W. Monroe St, Bloomington, will be at 1 p.m. today at Beck Memorial Home, Bloomington.

The Rev. Frank Traeger will officiate. Burial will be in West Twin Grove Cemetery, Bloomington. Mrs. Boitnott died at 5:40 p.m.

Friday (April 26, 1991) at McLean County Nursing Home, Normal. She was born Aug. 6, 1903, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of Samuel and Laura Havens Romans. She married Alva Boitnott on Nov. 8, 1921, in Indianapolis.

He preceded her in death on Oct 1, 1977. Survivors include one son, Nor-ris Boitnott, Fayetteville, seven daughters, Mae Belchner, Resaca, Margarie Fogler, 202 S. Roosevelt Bloomington; Dora Hall, South Pasadena, Dorothy Starns, LaVerne, Betty Fogler, 810 W. Washington St, Bloomington; Laura Hitch, El Paso; and Zelma Barbee, 606 W. Grove Bloomington; one brother, Roy Romans, East Peoria; one sister, Nellie Burch, Peoria; and 20 grandchildren.

Mrs. Boitnott was preceded in death by two sons, one daughter, one brother and three grandchildren. She was a member of the Bloomington Bible Church. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Related Disorders Association. Two daughters' names were incorrect in an obituary that appeared in Sunday's Pantagraph.

Cecile C. Colville The graveside service of Cecile C. Colville, 87, formerly of 404V4 E. Jefferson St, Bloomington, will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington.

The Rev. Fred Belcher will officiate. Beck Memorial Home, Bloomington, is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Colville died at 9:05 a.m.

Saturday (April 27, 1991) at LeRoy Manor Nursing Home. She was born Oct 16, 1903, in Emden, a daughter of Charles M. and Etta E. Gemberling Short Surviving are two grandchildren. One son and one brother preceded her in death.

She attended the Methodist church. Garnett Carder Greenwood Garnett Carder Greenwood, 85, of Black Mountain, N.C., formerly of Bloomington, died at 8:45 p.m. Saturday (April 27, 1991) at an Asheville, N.C., hospital. Her funeral will be at 4 p.m. today in Black Mountain United Methodist Church.

Burial will be at Mountain View Memorial Park. She was born in Ashland, 111., a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Carder.

She married Gordon H. Greenwood in Urbana in 1941. He survives. Also surviving are two sons, G. Gordon, Asheville, N.C., and Richard, Black Mountain, and three grandchildren.

She graduated with honors from Illinois State Normal University and earned her master's degree at the University of Illinois. She taught in several Central Illinois schools, including Champaign junior and senior high schools. She returned to ISU to teach rural education. In 1946, she and her husband purchased the Black Mountain News newspaper and operated it for several years. He went on to become a North Carolina state representative.

yesterday (April 29, 1991) at Brokaw Hospital, Normal. Froelich Memorial Home, Grid-ley, is in charge of arrangements. Austin Schaffenacker MOUNT PULASKI The funeral of Austin W. Schaffenacker, 88, Mount Pulaski, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Veail Chapel, Steenbergen Cemetery, rural Mount Pulaski.

Marvin Flowers will officiate. Burial will be in Steenbergen Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour before the service Wednesday at the chapel. Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Mount Pulaski, is in charge of arrangements. Mr.

Schaffenacker, a retired bank cashier, died at 12:05 a.m. Sunday (April 28, 1991) at Von-derlieth Living Center, Mount Pulaski. He was born Aug. 10, 1902, in rural Chestnut, a son of William and Mary Lohrenz Schaffenacker. He married Jessie May Scroggin on May 28, 1924, in Mount Pulaski.

She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Rhoda Walker and Jane Hemphill, both of Durango, six grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren. One brother and two sisters preceded him in death. Mr. Schaffenacker had been a cashier at the Farmers Bank of Mount Pulaski for 20 years, retiring in 1963.

He was a member of Mount Pulaski Christian Church; Mount Pulaski Rotary; and a 50-year member of Mount Pulaski Masonic Lodge. Memorials may be made to his church or to a charity of the donor's choice. Jess Glen Schulte PIPER CITY Jess Glen Schulte, 74, of Piper City, a retired elevator company employee, was dead at his home at 6:30 p.m. Sunday (April 28, 1991). Death was due to natural causes, said Robert Boyce, Ford County coroner.

A private graveside service will be today at Brenton Cemetery, Piper City, the Rev. Thomas Logs-don officiating. There will be no visitation. Knapp-Miller Funeral Home, Pax-ton, is in charge of arrangements. Mr.

Schulte was born Aug. 18, 1916, at Mansfield, a son of Andrew and Hannah Parker Schulte. He married Alice Oelschlager at Dwight, June 7, 1941. She died Jan. 27, 1988.

Survivors include three sons, Edward Oelschlager, Bourbonnais; Paul Schulte, Utica; and Glen Schulte, El Paso; three daughters, Wanda Burg, Gardner; Dorothy Burg, Dwight; and Ruth Rilea, Hanna City; two sisters, Hazel Kinstner, Kankakee, and Florence Schnoor, Reedsburg, one brother, Fred Schulte, North Carolina; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Schulte was a laborer for many years at the Piper City grain elevator, retiring nine years ago. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to a charity of the donor's choice. His funeral will be at 2 p.m.

Wednesday at Ford-Baier Funeral Home, Paxton, the Rev. Paul Bungum officiating. Burial will be in Glen Cemetery, Paxton, where military rites will be accorded. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

He was born March 2, 1920, in rural Paxton, a son of Martin and Mabel Bloomquist Thompson. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Mr. Thompson graduated from Paxton High School. He served with the Army several years.

A farmer south of Paxton, he was a member of Pontoppidan Lutheran Church in Elliott, attended Danville Senior Citizens and enjoyed bowling, horsehoes and billiards. Memorials may be made to his church. Elsie G. Tremblay ONARGA Elsie G. Tremblay, 76, of Onarga died at 11 p.m.

Friday (April 26, 1991) at Chanute Air Force Base hospital. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Knapp Funeral Home, Onarga, with the Rev. Thomas Logsdon officiating. Burial will be in Onarga Cemetery, where graveside military rites will be accorded.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Tremblay was born June 24, 1914, in Onarga, a daughter of Charles E. and Clara Talbert Gray.

She married Joseph Tremblay on June 15, 1946, in Chicago. He died July 29, 1989. Survivors include one son, Michael, Loveland, one daughter, Paula Tremblay, Aloha, two sisters, Lola Hickey, Madison, and Anges Bogardus, Bel-videre; one brother, Lloyd Gray, Sun City, and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Mrs.

Tremblay was an Army veteran of World War II. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Leona G. Wallace FORREST The funeral of Leona Gertrude Wallace, 86, of Forrest will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Forrest Apostolic Christian Church.

Church ministers will officiate. Burial will be in Forrest Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Culkin-Diggle Funeral Home, Forrest, and for one hour before the service Wednesday at the church. Mrs. Wallace, the last living.
