Garbage will not be picked up and the transit buses will be shut down. The McLean County Courthouse and Law and Justice Center will also be closed. Bloomington and Normal public libraries will not be open Monday, Sept. 4 Twin City banks and nearly all retail stores downtown will be closed. Eastland Shopping Center stores will decide independently whether to be open.

Some of the major employers that will be closed Labor Day include General Telephone General Electric, Illnois Agricultural Association, Firestone Tire Rubber Funk Seeds International. Modine Manufacturing The Eureka Co. and Paul F. Beich Candies. Those having the day off may want to take advantage of the parks.

Although the Parks and Recreation departments in Bloomington and Normal have no special activities planned, there will be swimming, boating, zoo visitation and concessions. Labor Day will be the final day to take Labor Day the way it was intended as a day of rest. Nearly all retail stores, offices, banks, manufacturers and schools will be Closed Monday. Sept. 4.

Games are scheduled during the weekend with the championship playoff set for Labor Day. The highlight of the day will be the annual Labor Day parade scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday.
