THE PANTAGRAPH, Saturday, June 6, 1987 C3 Streator Pitstop to get new home State Farm lists worker promotions Broadus purchased a 60- by 150-foot lot behind the present building and the older building will be razed once the new store is completed. He expects construction to be completed by July 12. The Pitstop is one of five stores Broadus owns. Two are in Streator. Other Pitstops are in Marseilles, Wilmington and Sandwich.

Pitstop is a convenience store offering self-serve gasoline, homemade doughnuts, groceries and other items. The new store will have about 1 1970 as personnel systems superintendent and was appointed to his present Job in 1972. Coffey, 26 Gloucester Circle, Bloomington, manager of direct compensation systems since 1982, has been promoted to director of compensation. He joined State Farm in 1971 as an education and training coordinator in the general personnel department at the home office and was named superintendent of personnel development in 1976. He moved to the St.

Paul, office as regional personnel manager in 1978 and returned to State Farm's corporate headquarters in 1981 as general personnel consultant. Wilson, 22 Lara Trace, Bloomington, has been promoted from direct compensation systems superintendent to general superintendent of direct compensation. He joined State Farm in 1964 as a field claim representative in the company's Mountain States region and moved to the home office in 1967 as a junior compensation specialist. He was appointed compensation specialist in 1968 and compensation staff assistant in 1969. Wilson was promoted to his present job in 1971.

Sharon Smoski, 30 Kenfield Circle, Bloomington, senior management planning and information analyst at State Farm's corporate headquarters, has been appointed director of management planning and information at the company's West Lafayette, office. She joined State Farm in 1975 as a management information services trainee and was promoted to management planning and information analyst in 1980. She was named to her current job in 1984. Frank Knoll, John Coffey and Bob Wilson also have been promoted to new jobs in the department. The four promotions are effective June 13. Melton is director of home office personnel relations. He joined State Farm in 1957 as a management development trainee in the home office and moved to the Salem, office in 1958.

Melton returned to the home office in 1959 as a personnel specialist. He later was personnel manager in the Jacksonville, office and at corporate headquarters. He was named to his present job in 1974. Knoll, 316 Hillside Lane, Bloomington, was promoted from manager of indirect compensation to director of indirect compensation. He began his career in 1950 as assistant park director at State Farm's home office and held several personnel jobs.

He moved to the Columbia, office in 1956 as regional personnel manager, a job that he later held in two State Farm offices in the east. He was named executive assistant in the State Farm president's office in 1983 and appointed deputy regional vice president in 1985. Robert E. Stegall, an agency director in Newport News, has been appointed an executive assistant in the agency executive office at State Farm corporate headquarters effective June 27.
