THE PANTAGRAPH Thursday, May 3, 2001 LOCAL OBITUARIES Brenda Braun CLINTON The funeral of Brenda Joy Braun, 4 48, of Clinton will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Clinton Assembly of God Church. Pastor Billy P. Bell will officiate. Burial will be in Minnesota.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the church. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, is in charge of arrangements. She died at 7:10 p.m. Tuesday (May 1, 2001) at her family residence.

Memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Mrs. Braun was born Aug. 2, 1952, in Cokato, a daughter of Otto and Virginia Segfidson Buttenhoff. She married Stephen R.

Braun on June 7, 1975, in Howard Lake, Minn. He survives. Other survivors include her parents in Buffalo, four daughters, Katie Braun, New Brighton, Amie Braun, Minneapolis; April Braun, Normal; and Laura Braun, Clinton; one sister, Juli Buttenhoff, Buffalo; and two brothers, Greg Buttenhoff, Buffalo; and Joel Buttenhoff, Watertown, Minn. DeVore LINCOLN Harold Ray DeVore, 81, of Lincoln died at 7 p.m. Tuesday (May 1, 2001) at his residence.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln. Burial will be in Kline Cemetery, Broadwell. Visitation will be for one hour before the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association; the American Cancer Society; or Hospice of Central Illinois.

Mr. DeVore was born Dec. 12, 1919, in Forest City, a son of Charles Ray and Lillian Gowan DeVore. He married Imogene Kennedy on Aug. 3, 1940, in Keokuk, Iowa.

She survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Linda (Robert) Coffey, Sisters, three sons, Larry (Brenda) DeVore and Lynn (Marcy) DeVore, both of Lincoln; and Louis (Charlene) DeVore, Bourbonnais; two sisters, Carol Nissen, Manito; and Norma Croce, Bristol, two brothers, Nelson (Jan) DeVore, Havana; and Gene DeVore, Kenosha, 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. His parents, three brothers and one sister preceded him in death. Faith Sophie Dovin STREATOR Faith Sophie Dovin, 3, of 1398 N. 17th Road, rural Streator, died at 8:10 a.m.

Tuesday (May 1, 2001) at her home. Her funeral will be at noon today at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Streator, the Rev. John E. Gutz officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Streator.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon today at. Hagi Funeral Home, Streator. Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Pre School Program. Faith was born May 21, 1997, the daughter of William and Kellie Bedeker Dovin.

Survivors include her parents; maternal grandparents, Edward and Ann Bedeker, rural Streator; paternal grandparents, William Sr. and Leona Dovin, Streator; and maternal great-grandmothers, Veronica Kuhn, Grand Ridge; a and Elizabeth Bedeker, Streator. Warren Gallagher LINCOLN The funeral of Warren White Gallagher, 83, of Lincoln will be at 11 a.m. May 10 at Holland Barry Funeral Home, Lincoln. Entombment will be at 11 a.m.

May 11 in Hott Mausoleum in Monticello Cemetery, Monticello. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. He died Saturday (April 28, 2001) in Tucson, Ariz. Memorials may be made to Lincoln College, Lincoln.

Delmar Hamblin LeROY Delmar Dean Hamblin, 73, of LeRoy died at 2:29 p.m. Tuesday (May 1, 2001) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington. Arrangements are pending at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, LeRoy. Verne Judd WENONA Verne "Lee" Judd, 67, of Alamo, Texas, a native of Wenona, died April 22, 2001, at McAllen Medical Center, McAllen, Texas.

His memorial graveside service will be at 11 a.m. May 12 in Cumberland Cemetery, Wenona. A dinner for family and friends will be held immediately after at the American Legion in Toluca. She was born Feb. 21, 1949, at Washington, a daughter of Vernon and Dorothy Glabe Attig. She married Dennis K. Krus on Aug. 23, 1986, at Washington.

He survives. Other survivors include her parents of Washington; two sons, Daniel L. Bailin and Jonathan M. Bailin, both of Washington; two sisters, Karen (Jim) Roy, Ottawa; and Diane (Jim) Fox, Washington; and a brother, David (Sheila) Attig, Mary R. Malone CULLOM Mary R.

"Marie" Malone, 82, of Cullom, formerly of rural Kempton, died at 10:20 p.m. Tuesday (May 1, 2001) in St. Mary's Hospital emergency room, Kankakee. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St.

John's Catholic Church, Cullom, Father Richard Brunskill officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Campus. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Cullom, with a rosary recited at 4 p.m. Memorials may be made to St.

John's Catholic Church, Cullom, or the Cullom Fire Department Ambulance Service. She was born June 5, 1918, at Reddick, a daughter of Michael J. and Rose Podach Fritz. She married Joseph J. Malone on Nov.

29, 1952, at Kankakee. He survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Rosanne (Monte) DeCounter, Blandinsville; two sons, Martin (Karen) Malone and Vernon (Julie) Malone, both of rural Kempton; a sister, Anastasia Jamerson, Naples, and a brother, Arthur Fritz, Park Forest. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Amy and Jill Burling; Sam, Matt and Katie Malone; and Zach, Alex and Dana Malone. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Adam, Benedict and Cletus Fritz.

Marie was a farmwife, working with her husband and raising her family. She was a 1936 graduate of Reddick High School. She was a member of the OlsonBute American Legion Post Auxiliary at Kempton and was a past president of 17th District auxiliary. She was also a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Cullom, and the Sunshine Club, Emington.

Robert Pokarney Sr. FORREST Robert Theodore Pokarney 79, of Cuba, formerly of Forrest and East Peoria, died at 9 a.m. Monday (April 30, 2001) at Methodist Medical Center, Peoria. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Remmert Funeral Home, East Peoria, the Rev.

John Plunkett officiating. Burial will be in Fon Du Lac Cemetery, East Peoria. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Creve Coeur Christian Church or the American Cancer Society.

He was born Oct. 13, 1912, at Wing, a son of Mike and Mertle Volgelsinger Pokarney. He married Virginia Basil on July 12, 1942, at Forrest. She died Nov. 19, 1995, at Canton.

Survivors include a daughter, Susan (Stan) Manuel, Cuba; three sons, Robert Pokarney, East Peoria; and Tim Pokarney, Pekin; and Jon (Barbara) Pokarney, East Peoria; a sister, Mary Rice, Portage, two brothers, Maurice (Dolores) Pokarney and Harry (Barbara) Pokarney, both of Dwight; 10 grandchildren; and six great -grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and two brothers. He was a planning engineer for Caterpillar, East Peoria, for 42 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of Creve Coeur Christian Church. He was active in the East Peoria grade schools Association and was a Sunday School teacher at his church for 35 years.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, who served in the European theater during World War II. Iris Pritchard PONTIAC Iris Sullivan Pritchard, 91, of St. Pete Beach, formerly of rural Pontiac, died April 23, 2001, at Hospice House Woodside, The Villa, Pinellas Park, Fla. Her memorial service will be at 11 a.m.

Saturday at Harris-MartinBurke Funeral Home, Pontiac, the Rev. Frank Deninger officiating. Visitation will be for one hour before the service Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Illinois Wesleyan University SAI sorority in memory of Iris Sullivan Pritchard, P.O. Box 2900, Bloomington, IL 61702-2900; or the Pontiac Library.

She married Marion C. Pritchard. He died in 1987. Survivors include two sons, Dr. James C.

(Bonnie) Pritchard, Geneva; and W.G. "Jerry" (Rosalie) Pritchard, Camp Connell, one sister, Dorothy (Chandler) Brown, Springfield; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a niece, Iris (Raymond) Knell, Springfield, Va. She attended Illinois Wesleyan University School of Music, Bloomington, and was a member of SAI music sorority. John P.

Teel CHATSWORTH A memorial service for John P. Teel, 71, of 111 W. Walnut Chatsworth, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hager Memorial Home, Chatsworth. Father Richard Brunskill will officiate.

Inurnment will be at a later date in Pike Township Cemetery. There will be no visitation. He died at 2:30 p.m. Saturday (April 28, 2001) at Gibson Area Hospital, Gibson City. Memorials may be made to the family.

Mr. Teel was born Sept. 15, 1929, in Arcola, a son of Dr. Charles B. and Betty Jane Taulbe Teel.

He married Fern Oltman. He later married Mary Lou Dohman on May 21, 1965, in Chicago. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Laura Kracker, Bloomington; and JoEllen (John) Schoenbrun, Normal; a son, Paul Teel, Normal; four stepdaughters, Diane (Ulf) Olsen, Linda DeAngeles, Beth Ann May, and Mary Jo (Mark) See; two stepsons, Larry (Bonnie) Zeller and David Zeller; two sisters, Jean McCully, Fairbury; and Harriet Herrington, Arcola; five grandchildren; stepgrandchildren; and eight step stepgreat-grandchildren. One son, Allen, and four sisters preceded him in death.

He was a retired senior maintenance mechanic for Motorola Co. in Schaumburg. A member of the Fairbury VFW, he was a Korean War veteran and received the Silver Star. Bertha M. Warren FARMER CITY The funeral of Bertha M.

Warren, 95, of Farmer City will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Farmer City. Pastor Ted Wentland will officiate. Burial will be in McCord Cemetery, rural Farmer City. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m.

and Maxie McKinley Denison. She married Clyde V. Warren on Sept. 27, 1928, at Dayton, Ohio. He died May 24, 1982.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara J. (Jim) Smith, Clinton; and Jessie M. (Dick) Cooper, Sarasota, and a son, Eddie Joe (Kay) Warren, Farmer City. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Stacey (Kenny) Nimmo, Grand Tower; and Pam (Duane) Runyon and Dan (Tammy) Warren, both of rural Farmer City; and six great-grandchildren, Mike Runyon, Lindsey Runyon, Cylie Cole Warren, Cody Warren, Alisha Nimmo and Breanna Nimmo. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, three sisters and three brothers.

Mrs. Warren was a member of Fullerton Cumberland Presbyterian Church, rural Farmer City, and the DeWitt County Home Extension Club. Lowell E. Yordy CHENOA Lowell E. Yordy, 68, of Rushville, formerly of Chenoa, died at 1:30 p.m.

April 25, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital, Rapid City, S.D. His funeral was Saturday at Chamberlain Chapel, Rushville, the Rev. Ed Miliken officiating. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery, Rushville. Memorials may be made to the Kidney Association, in care of Chamberlain Chapel, P.O.

Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337. Mr. Yordy was born July 11, 1932, in Pontiac, the son of Omer and Irene Yordy. He married Ruth Thompson on Oct. 20, 1957.

She survives. Other survivors include his mother, of Meadows Mennonite Home, rural Chenoa; two daughters, Debi (Mark) Keim, Bridgeport, and Lori (Randy) Starke, Minatare, one son, Tom (Sandee) Yordy, Martin, S.D.; one sister, Barbara (Phillip) Harland, Chenoa; and 10 grandchildren. His father and an infant grandson preceded him in death. Bloomington-Normal urnment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bloomington.

and Helen M. Cross Anderson. He married Sheila M. Sheppleman on Nov. 6, 1965, at Westchester.

She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Bridgette M. Anderson, Manito; a son, Thomas A. (Shara) Anderson III, Bloomington; two sisters, Helenmarie Corcoran, Alexandria, and Catherine (Fred) Niziol, Columbia, and two brothers, Edmund Barrett (Mary Jo) Anderson, Lisle; and Robert D. (Pam) Anderson, Wheaton.

Also surviving are three grandsons, Joshua Thomas, John Stephen and Joseph Edmund Anderson; a granddaughter, Leah Katheryn Anderson; an aunt, Margaret Cerniglia, Westchester; two goddaughters, Jennifer Smith and Monica Corcoran; four dear friends, Ed Payne, Mackinaw; Mike Smith, Palatine; Gary Scarbeary, Bloomington; and Gene VonDerheide, Manito; and many nieces and nephews. His parents preceded him in death. Mr. Anderson was a graduate of Fenwick High School, Oak Park, Thomas Anderson Jr. BLOOMINGTON Thomas A.

Anderson 59, of Manito, formerly of Bloomington, died at 3 p.m. Tuesday (May 1, 2001) at his home after a lengthy illness. A memorial Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Church of Merna, Bloomington, the Rev.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Manito and a former member of Holy Trinity Church, Bloomington, where he was a Eucharistic minister and was involved in creating the youth ministry program of the church and was a youth minister. He also was with the TNT (Teens Need Trinity) program. He was also involved with Cursillo and TEC (Teens Encounter Christ) of Bloomington-Normal.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 574 of Bloomington. Tom was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was known for his wonderful sense of humor and storytelling. He will be deeply missed. William L.

Dennison BLOOMINGTON The funeral for William Lee Dennison, 56, of 717 E. Miller Bloomington, formerly of Peoria and Pekin, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Metzler-Froelich Memorial Home, Bloomington. The Rev. Randy A.

Williams will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date. Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the memorial home. He died at 12:37 p.m.

Monday (April 30, 2001) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center emergency room, Mattoon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Mr. Dennison was born July 14, 1944, at Bloomington, a son of Clarence E. and Elizabeth L.

Cotton Dennison. Survivors include two daughters, Julie Dennison and Kathy Dennison, both of Bloomington; two sons, William Lee Dennison Jr. and Brian William William Michael Den- Dennison nis, both of Pekin; three stepdaughters, Angela Bicknell, Bloomington; Mary Chambers, Clay Center, Lisa (Kevin) Isonhart-Thompson, Peoria; two stepsons, Brian (Nicole) Bicknell, Bradford; and Paul (Christina) Pocklington, Pekin; a sister, Patricia Talon, Bloomington; five grandchildren; and six stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Vivian Wheeler and Shirley Wheeler; and three brothers, Wilbur and Donald Dennison, and one in infancy. Mr.

Dennison was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and had received a Purple Heart. He was a member of the AMVETS post in Pekin. He had formerly worked for Sears-Roebuck Co. and most recently worked for Creative Publishing Co.

at Pekin. He had also worked as a musician in various area bands for several years. Marilyn Fields BLOOMINGTON Marilyn Fields, 64, of Creve Coeur, formerly of Bloomington, died at 7:40 a.m. Wednesday (May 2, 2001) at her home. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m.

Monday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur chapel, the Rev. Edward Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery, Peoria. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Tazewell Animal Protective Society, 2675 Allentown Road, Pekin, IL 61554. She was born May 7, Bloomington, 1936, at Marilyn a Marilyn daughter of Fields Paul Joseph and Zelma Daroline Riley Abraham. She married Clifford L. Fields on Feb. 22, 1974, at Peoria.

He survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Marilyn (Dan) Oesch, Pekin; Angelia (Brooke) Camden, East Peoria; and Lillian Alberta Fields, Creve Coeur; a sister, Dare line Masters-Shaw, Holland, Ohio; and two grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Paul Gregory Scott; and a daughter, Mary Beth Scott. Virginia Jane Lovins: Doris Doris BLOOMINGTON The funeral of Virginia Jane Lovins, 61, of 6 Wach Drive, Bloomington, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Metzler-Froelich Memorial Home, Bloomington.

The Rev. Donald McPheron will officiate. Entombment will be in East Lawn Mausoleum, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the memorial home.

She died at 2:05 a.m. Tuesday (May 1, 2001) at 122 Greenwood Hillcrest Court, No. 66. Bloomington. Memorials may be made to Jesus the Way Tabernacle, 1015 W.

Oakland Bloomington, or to BroMenn Hospice, 1322 S. Main Normal. She was born Aug. 28, 1939, at LeRoy, a daughter of Jess and Bessie Reed Cook. She married Franklin E.

"Gene" Lovins on April 4, 1958, at Decatur. He died Aug. 7, 1999. Survivors include a daughter, Kathy S. (Don) Hill, Jupiter, a son, Terry J.

(Becky) Lovins, Hollywood, a stepdaughter, Judith K. (the Rev. Donald) McPheron, Bloomington; a stepson, the Rev. Ronald E. (Julie) Lovins; a sister, Barbara (Jerry) Kalk, Ogden; a brother, Clarence (Sylvia) Cook, Tulsa, nine grandchildren; and eight great -grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Lovins was a member of Jesus the Way Tabernacle, Bloomington. Arthur Walker BLOOMINGTON Arthur Daniel Walker, 88, of 747 N. Monticello, Chicago, father of a Bloomington resident, died at 6 a.m.

Friday (April 27, 2001) in Zion. His wake service will be at 7 p.m. today at Wallace Broadview Funeral Home, Broadview, followed by his funeral at 8 p.m. Burial will be in Restvale Cemetery, Worth. The local survivor is a son, Tim (Jennifer) Walker.
