Bruce, Bloomington, and Mark R. Bruce, Stockholm; and one sister, Elaine Bondonno, Los Gatos, Calif. Sh6 was preceded in death by a brother, David Greenock. She worked as a teacher in Unit 5 schools departing in June 2001. She had a B.S.

in special education from Illinois State University and a M.S. in special education from ISU. She had resided in Montclair, N.J.; Santiago, Chile; Maracai-bo, Venezuela; Quincy; and Dallas, Texas. She loved children and animals. Robert Chalk Sr.

tron of the Eastern Star. Mr. Streid joined the U.S. Army in 1940. As a Command Car Driver, he drove then Lt.

Col. Dwight D. Eisenhower several times. He participated in 10 major campaigns from Africa to Austria, including four landings at Africa, Sicily, Italy and France. In fact, his section beat Gen.

Patton to Palermo, which history will never show (and Gen. Patton did not appreciate)! Mr. Streid received the Bronze Star at Anzio in 1944. He was asked to write a testimonial for Audie Murphy, as he had seen all the same action for which Murphy had received the Medal of Honor. In all, Mr.

Streid spent five years in the 3rd Infantry Division of the Army, two on the front lines without a furlough. His infantry Division had more 1982, in El Paso. Surviving are three sons, Ronald Waldschmidt and Thomas (Sharon) Waldschmidt, both of Roanoke; and Richard (Amy) Waldschmidt, Metamora; one daughter, Donna (Ed) Chioni, Roanoke; one sister, Trasilla Koch, Toluca; eight grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchil-dren; and three great-greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Elsie was a member of St.

Joseph's Catholic Church in Roanoke where she was active in the Altar and Rosary Societies. She was a Homemaker. William Walker DWIGHT Richard "Bill" Walker, 34, of rural Rolla, formerly of Dwight, died Thursday (July 4, 2002) in rural Rolla. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on U.S. 51 south of Wapella. Arrangements are pending at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. J.C. Parr FARMER CITY J.C.

Parr, 74, of Eustace, Texas, formerly of Farmer City, died June 25, 2002, at Charlton Methodist Hospital, Dallas. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Bethel Church, east of Farmer City Mr. Parr was born Aug. 5, 1927, at Farmer City, a son of Marquis and Pearl Parr.

Surviving are a son, Mark C. Parr, Urbana; two daughters, Carol A. Lambert and Nancy K. Wingler, both of Lancaster, Texas; two sisters, Bernadine Carter, Urbana, and Joan Cox, Hammond; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Two sisters preceded him in death.

Betty K. Bazzell ARROWSMITH Betty K. Bazzell, 59, of Arrowsmith died at 8 p.m. Sunday (July 7, 2002) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal. Mrs.

Bazzell had been battling an illness for the last 12 months. Her graveside inurnment service will be at 2 p.m. July 19 at Dodge Grove Cemetery, Mat-toon. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association.

She was born June 27, 1943, in Mattoon, a daughter of Sam and Edna Ferguson Taylor. She married Grover E. Bazzell Dec. 7, 1991, in Fisher. He survives.

Also surviving are one son, Robert E. Taylor, Saybrook; one daughter, Beverly Rambaud, Spring Valley; five grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Her parents, one brother and one sister preceded her in death. She had been employed as a service clerk at Cub Foods, Bloomington. Mila Becker MINIER A private family service for Mila Boiler Becker, 82, of Minier, will be at a later date.

Burial will be in Minier Cemetery. There will be no visitation. McRey-nolds-Beck Funeral Home, Minier, is in charge of 1LJ arrangements. She died at 5:35 a.m. Sun Mila Becker day (July 7, 2002) at Hopedale Hospital.

Memorials may be made to Hopedale Medical Complex, Hopedale. She was born Feb. 9, 1920, in Chicago, a daughter of Paul and Clara Nitschke Boiler. She married Sherman Becker on Feb. 19, 1938, in Chicago.

He died March 4, 2001. Surviving are two daughters, Lauren (Tom) Majerczyk, Bloomington, and Sherry (Michael) Wreschinsky, Montgomery; and four grandchildren, Christopher Majerczyk, Michael Majerczyk, Tom Wreschinsky and Michele Wreschinsky. One brother preceded her in death. She loved gardening and was an avid Cub fan. Her positive outlook and sense of humor will be missed by all.

Blake W. Beppler PAXTON The funeral of Blake W. Beppler, 23, of Pax- ton, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ford-Baier Funeral Home, Paxton. The Rev.

Harold Q. Bodeen will officiate. Burial at a later date will be in Linnwood Cemetery, Logan, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

He died at 3:20 p.m. Sunday (July 7, 2002) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, following a two-car accident near Pax-ton. Surviving are his parents, Daniel W. and Claudia J. Yocom Beppler, Paxton; one sister, Shelly J.

Beppler, Naperville; his paternal grandparents, Bill and Rose Beppler, Paxton; and his maternal grandmother, Elyzabethe J. Yocom, Paxton. Verla I. Geer CLINTON The graveside service of Verla I. Geer, 90, of Odin, formerly of Clinton, will be at 11:30 a.m.

Thursday at Wel-don Cemetery, Weldon. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton. She died at 5:20 a.m. Tuesday (July 2, 2002) at Odin Healthcare Center, Odin.

Helen L. Kelley GIBSON CITY Helen L. Kelley, 94, of Gibson City died at 5:30 a.m. Sunday (July 7, 2002) at Gibson Area Hospital, Gibson City. Her funeral will be at 1 p.m.

Mrs. Kelley was born Sept. 6, 1907, in Tazewell County, a daughter of Robert and Zula Yoakum Bratcher. She married Thomas A. Kelley Feb.

18, 1933, at Bloomington. He died June 7, Surviving are two sisters, Evelyn Wirrick, Clarksville, and Wanita Erickson, Indianapolis, and several nieces and nephews. Her parents and one sister preceded her in death. Mrs. Kelley was a member of the First Christian Church in Gibson City.

She also was a member of the Gibson City Women's Club and Senior Citizens Club. Mrs. Kelley had lived in Gibson City since 1947. Daniel J. Kusnerik STREATOR Daniel J.

Kusnerik, 74, of 807 Porter Streator, died at 1:40 a.m. Monday (July 8, 2002) at St. Mary's Hospital, Streator. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St.

Stephen's Church, Streator, the Rev. Jeffrey Lawrence officiating. Burial will be in St. Stephen's Ceme tery, Streator, with full military rites by Streator Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1492 and Streator Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 ft Daniel Kusnerik p.m. Thursday at Solon, Baker Telford Funeral Home, Streator, with the rosary at 4:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Stephen's Church or Cemetery; or Streator Unlimited. He was born April 12, 1920, in Streator, a son of Andrew and Margaret Kacmarik Kusnerik.

He married Dorothy Yusko Sept. 23, 1950, at St. Stephen's Church. She survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Diane (Mark) Chismarick, Streator; one son, Duane Kusnerik, Ottawa; three brothers, Ervin (Shirley) Kusnerik, Streator; John (Ann) Kusnerik, Galveston, Texas; and Lawrence (Dorothy) Kusnerik, Streator; two sisters, Patricia (Owen) Lyons, Pontiac, and Dolores Nielsen, Lostant; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Francis Kusnerik. He resided in Streator all of his life. He served in the United States Army. He was a carpenter for Carpenter's Local 195 of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Joiners of America. He also had worked for Halm Brothers Construction in Ottawa and retired from I.

VC.C. in the maintenance department. He was a member of St. Stephen's Church; Third Degree member of Msgr. George A.

Dzuryo Knights of Columbus Council 790; and Streator Fraternal Order of Eagles 645. He graduated from Streator Township High School. Pallbearers will be grandson, Andrew Kusnerik; nephew, Mark Kusnerik; nephew, Larry Kusnerik brother, John Kusnerik; brother-in-law, Will Ratliff; and brother-in-law, Albert Yusko. Solomon, 61, of 1806 Monroe Drive, Kerrville, Texas, formerly of Bloomington, died Friday (July 5, 2002) at Veterans Administration Hospital, Kerrville. On the record POLICE REPORT BLOOMINGTON Thefts West Olive Street A 1996 GMC with the keys left in the ignition and containing a semiautomatic 32-caliber gun, miscellaneous tools and three gas credit cars was stolen from the 1600 block of West Olive Street Saturday night.

Value was not available. NORMAL Thefts Warriner Street Three grinders, two calipers and a cordless drill, total valued of more than $600, were taken during a break-in late Friday night at L.L. Beard Fabrication in the 1200 block of Warriner Street. Fires East North Street A bottle apparently containing an accelerant was thrown through a window at First Site, 102 E. North on July 2 or 3.

The building was found filled with smoke early July 3. No damage estimate was listed. Vera Webb CLINTON Vera Webb, 95, of Clinton died at 7:30 p.m. Sunday (July 7, 2002) at the home of her daughter, Wilma and Jack Roberts, Clinton, surrounded by family and friends. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church. She was born Sept. 25, 1906, in Clinton, a daughter of Dolf and Minnie Plankenhorn Cobb.

She married Wesley Webb Dec. 26, 1925, in Clinton. He died Nov. 15, 1988. Surviving are two sons, Richard Webb and Ronald (Loretta) Webb, both of Clinton; three daughters, Rita (Terry) Etherton and Wilma (Jack) Roberts, both of Clinton; and Dixie Beery, Wheaton; 15 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and one great-greatgrandchild.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. She was a member of First Christian Church for 81 years. She was a homemaker. She loved her flowers and family and will be missed by all who loved her. BL00MINGT0N-N0RMAL Sharon Bacak BLOOMINGTON Sharon Ruth Bacak, 63, of 1509 N.

Calhoun Bloomington, formerly of Tacoma, died at 10:53 a.m. Sunday (July 7, 2002) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal. Her memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Stub-blefield-Froelich Memorial Home, Normal. The Rev.

Michael Bliss will officiate. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association. She was born April 29, 1939, in Cairo, the daughter of Marion Walbaum Blum. Surviving are three daughters, Katherine (Jack) Morris, Bloomington; and Linda Bacak and Karen (Keith) Parker, both of DuPont, and five grandchildren.

Her mother and one granddaughter preceded her in death. Laurel A. Bruce BLOOMINGTON The memorial service for Laurel A. Bruce, 48, of Stockholm, Sweden, formerly of Bloomington, will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Beck Memorial Home, The Rev.

Jennie Edwards Bertrand will officiate. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. before the service Thursday She died Sunday (June 30, 2002) in Stockholm. Memorials may be made to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

He grew corn and soybeans and also was a big cattle feeder. He also raised baby chicks. In 1950, he decided to switch from farming to the egg business. He delivered fresh eggs to restaurants and stores from Pontiac to Bloomington to El Paso. Mr.

Streid was often asked to talk about his service experiences to various groups all around Illinois. He gave 29 programs in all. After his retirement in 1982, he enjoyed playing golf and was a ranger at the Pontiac Elks Club. He also started the Chenoa Golf Open. Lillian Tharp FORREST Lillian Blanch Pool Tharp, 87, of 115 W.

John Forrest, died at 3:55 a.m. Monday (July 8, 2002) at Gibson Area Hospital, Gibson City Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Forrest United Methodist Church, the Rev. Dennis Powers and the Rev. Joel Bensema officiating.

Burial will be in Brenton Cemetery, Piper City Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hager Memorial Home, Forrest, and for one hour before the service Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Forrest United Methodist Church. She was born Aug. 14, 1914, in Piper City, a daughter of John S.

and Ida Kridner Pool. She married Louis Tharp Feb. 9, 1935, in Piper City He died March 8, 1997. Surviving are one daughter, Janet (John) Stein, LeRoy; two sons, Dean (Carol) Tharp, Bloomington, and David (Carol) Tharp, Cullom; one brother, John W. Pool, Melvin; eight grandchildren; and nine greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, four brothers and three sisters. She was a bookkeeper for Honegger Farms for 13 years. She was a member of Forrest United Methodist Church; Forrest Womens Club; Forrest United Methodist Women; and Forrest Senior Citizens. She was a graduate of Piper City High School. She loved to play cards with family and friends.

Elsie Waldschmidt ROANOKE Elsie A. Waldschmidt, 93, of Roanoke Apostolic Christian Home, died at 6:15 a.m. Monday (July 8, 2002) at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Her Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. inursaay at St.

rsje Joseph's Wadschmidt Catholic Church in Roanoke. The Rev. Mark Merdian will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Metamora.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Knapp-Johnson-Harris Funeral Home in Roanoke, with a rosary service at 7:45 p.m. Memorials may be made to Roanoke Apostolic Christian Home or to Masses at St. Joseph's Church. She was born July 2, 1909, in Edelstein, the daughter of Michael and Ida Streb Marc-hand.

She married Herman Waldschmidt on Feb. 9, 1932, in Metamora. He died Aug. 25, of Memorial Homes Wayne Short CLINTON Ira Wayne Short, 76, of Clinton died at 12:15 p.m. Monday (July 8, 2002) at his residence in Clinton.

Streid CHENOA The funeral of Delmar C. Streid, 82 of Chenoa will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa. The Rev. Debbie Hor-vath will officiate.

Burial will be in Chenoa Cemetery, with a military service by the Chenoa VFW Post. Visi tation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a Masonic service at 8 p.m., and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the memorial home. Delmar Streid He died at 12:17 p.m.

Sunday (July 7, 2002) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal. Memorials may be made to Chenoa United Methodist Church or the Shriner's Hospital. He was born March 20, 1920, in rural Chenoa, the son of Daniel and Grace Conger Streid. He married Dorothy Jacobs Aug. 14, 1946, at Chenoa.

She survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Diane (David) Peni-cook, Klamath Falls, three sons, Delbert (Dianne) Streid, Tallahassee, Dennis (Mitzi) Streid, Rockford; and Daniel Streid, Tulsa, one brother, John Streid, Chenoa; one sister, Ruby Morrison, Flanagan; five grandchildren, Jessica Penicook; David Peni-cook; William Penicook; Seth (Amber) Streid; and Chadwick Streid; and one great-grandchild, Madelyn Streid. His parents and one sister preceded him in death. Mr. Streid attended Baugh-man School and rural Chenoa schools.

He was a member of Chenoa United Methodist Church. He also was a member of the American Legion Post 234; Executive Committee McLean Co. Republican Party; Chenoa Precinct Township Committee (10 years); McLean Co. Zoning Board of Appeals (nine years); and Bloomington Consistory and Peoria Shrine. He was a life member of the Bloomington Moose Lodge, Bloomington Elks and VFW Post 8350, of which he was a Past Commander.

He also was a past member of the McLean County Board (14 years), Region 12 Police Grants in Four Counties (five years), McLean County Regional Planning (five years) and was Director of Economic Development for Chenoa (five years).
