He was a licensed plumber- for the Springfield Local and was employed several years by Albert Bros. Construction. He retired from the State of Illinois from Lincoln Developmental Center in He was a member of Arcadia Presbyterian Church, Arcadia, Fla. He was active in many organizations. 210 of Lincoln. He also had a dual membership with Masonic Lodge No. 165, Atlanta, and the Peace River Masonic Lodge No. 66 in Arcadia, Fla. He was a life member of ANSAR Shrine Consistory of Springfield and past president of Logan County Shriners.

James Hexdall MINONK James K. Hexdall, 67, Minonk, formerly of Gardner, passed away in the afternoon of Aug.

Born April 25, 1942, in Morris, he was the son of Elmer and Alice (Granville) Hexdall. He graduated from Morris Community High School with the class of 1960.

Erich Kunzel, Cincinnati Pops director, dies at age 74 CINCINNATI Erich Kunzel, the award conductor who headed the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra since it was founded three decades ago and who won international fame through sales of more than 10 million recordings, has died. He was 74. Kunzel was diagnosed farmed in the Morris and Gardner area his whole life.

Surviving are one sister, Joyce Hexdall, Peoria; one brother, David Hexdall, Lincoln; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Paul and Thomas Hexdall. He was a member of the Grundy County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed working with antique tractors and his dog, Sassie. BLOOMINGTONNORMAL Clayton Hutchinson Randall Sullivan BLOOMINGTON Clayton ever Hutchinson, 62, Germantown Hills, father of a Bloomington resident, passed away Monday (Aug. 31, 2009) at his residence after battling cancer. His funeral will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Mason Funeral Home, Germantown Hills Chapel, Germantown Hills. Pastor Steve Lombardo, formerly garville, four sisters, Audrey (Freddie) Dick, Jackson, Wanda Manos, Jackson, Rebecca (Glenn) Griffith, St.

Stephens, and Lucy (Roger) Kirk, Ralph, and numerous nieces and nephews. Clayton was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Elvin and James; and twin sister, Clara, in infancy. Clayton retired from Caterpillar in 2005, after a 30-year career that spanned from Aurora as an assembler to Peoria as a maintenance supervisor. Clayton also retired from the U.S. Army National Guard in 2007.

He rose to the rank of first sergeant during his 20- year tenure. In addition to his career, Clayton was active with the youth of Morris, as a football coach, Little League baseball coach, and Cub Scout pack master. He was also an active member of the Rotary Club, serving as vice president, president and chairman of the RYLA youth program for the Chicago District. He also served as a trustee for his home chureh, Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morris. Clayton will always be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, loyal friend and Sophie and Matthew's Pop.

Cookbook author Lukins dies NEW YORK Sheila Lukins, the store owner and cookbook author who helped change how America eats, has died. She was 66. Lukins died Sunday at her Manhattan home, according to longtime colleague Laurie Griffith.

She had been diagnosed with brain cancer three months ago. Born in Philadelphia, Lukins got her education in the fine arts, graduating from New York University with a degree in Art Education. But in the 1970s, after she had spent some time at the Cordon Bleu in London and had worked with some chefs in France, she returned to New York and ASSOCIATED PRESS started a catering business. In 1977, she co-founded The Silver Palate, a shop on Manhattan's Upper West Side that introduced people to flavors from places such as Greece and Morocco. In 1982, "The Silver Palate Cookbook" was released, one of a number of cookbooks Lukins would work on, including "All Around the World Cookbook" and "The New Basics Her books have sold several million copies.

Lukins also was the food editor at Parade magazine. She was inducted into the James Beard Foundation's Who's Who of Food and Beverage in America in 1992. She sold her interest in The Silver Palate in 1988, and the store closed in 1993. with liver, colon and pancreatic cancer in April, but con-' tinued conducting while undergoing treatment. He died Tuesday morning at a hospital near his home in Swan's Island, Maine, said Chris Pinelo, a spokesman for the Cincinnati Pops.

On July 4, Kunzel conducted a concert at the U.S. Capitol with Aretha Franklin. He had led the National Symphony on the Capitol lawn in nationally televised Memorial Day and Independence Day concerts since 1991. This year, he also conducted a concert in Beijing, where he and the Cincinnati Pops last year performed in opening festivities for the Summer Olympics. Kunzel also led the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Pops in many performances.

Kunzel received the National Medal of Arts from President George W. Bush in 2006 for outstanding contributions to the arts and was inducted into the American Classical Music Hall of Fame in 2008. Kunzel, who also had homes in Newport, and Naples, is survived by his wife, Brunhilde.
